Dr Marli grew up in the Free State in the small town of Bethlehem.

She completed her medical studies at the University of the Free State and went on to do her 2 year internship at the Port Elizabeth Hospital Complex. After this she did her community service in Bethlehem at Dihlabeng regional Hospital where she spent a year working in Paediatric and neonatal ICU and prem units. Here she discovered her passion for the "little patients".

She relocated to Cape Town and worked in a GP practice in Steenberg while her husband completed his studies. In 2019 she joined the Greenways Medical Family and is currently still here.
